At Comstock Canada Ltd., the protection and enhancement of the health, safety and welfare of any person who may be impacted by our work environment is a fundamental business objective. A product of this commitment is exemplified in our safety performance record, which is over 80% better than the national construction industry average.
We have a comprehensive Health and Safety Program, becoming one of the first construction companies in North America to be OHSAS (ISO) 18001:2007 (Safety) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environment) Registered. Together with our ISO 9001:2008 Registered Quality Management Program, we deliver an Integrated Management System that is driven by continuous improvement and designed to fully meet and exceed stakeholder expectations.
Key Health, Safety & Environmental Program elements include:
- LEAD: Together we will use our skills and knowledge to be a national leader in safety and environmental performance via our Brothers Keeper and Be There for Life Programs
- PLAN: Every workplace completes ongoing risk assessments to ensure that effective safety control measures are established and communicated to all employees and affected parties
- DO: All employees are provided with all necessary training, supervision and resources that are needed to achieve ZERO injuries.
- CHECK: All employees are given opportunities to monitor their work area's and strive to continuously improve the safety of their work area's through the implementation effective preventative actions where opportunities are identified
- IMPROVE: Through consultation with our employees, clients and industry stakeholders we will focus our resources on key safety and environmental protection initiatives in target to achieve zero accidents.
Comstock also has one of the largest and most technically knowledgeable safety and environmental departments in Canada, which helps to ensure that every project is a success by enhancing both safety and productivity.
